Happy Friday Eve! Or if you’re reading this on Friday, Happy Friday! I truly hope y’all had a productive week. This weekend, why not try champagne instead of hard liquor? That’s my plan! And, since we won’t see each other until next Thursday, don’t forget that this Sunday is Daylight Saving Time. Yup! We gain an hour back. Anyway, let’s dive in.

1. Complexcon!
Wash Poppin Long Beach, CA? This weekend lucky music and fashion fans will get the chance to experience Complexcon! It's a festival similar to Atlanta's A3C Festival which I've discussed before in this blog series.
Actually, I'd say its more like SXSW due to the size of its commercial sponsors and the number of big name performers on the ticket. Regardless of how we choose to classify it, Complexcon is definitely a weekend event worth the price of admission (+$100 per day).
Heck, if I would have known about it sooner, I'd be on my way out there right now! Take a look at the Saturday Night performers:
But since I was late to the party, I'll be searching hashtags on IG for the experience this year; similar to Seoul Fashion Week SS 18. Check out the week 6 Roundup post here.
2. Michelle Obama: "We love our boys and we raise our girls"
First off, let me just say that I miss seeing the Obama's in the White House. More importantly, I miss seeing Michelle and her fresh silk-presses all the time. To me, she is a great role model to young girls and women alike and she's also the perfect First Lady! OK, let's get back on topic.
On Halloween, while many of us were running around thinking about Halloween candy and costumes (me included), the Obama's were holding their first-ever Obama Foundation Summit. The summit was held in Chicago, IL and featured some 500 speakers from all over the world.
One of many sound-bites from the summit was from Michelle when she said, "It’s powerful to have strong men but what does that strength mean? Does it mean respect? Does it mean responsibility? Does it mean compassion? Or are we protecting our men too much so that they feel a little entitled and a little, you know, self-righteous sometimes?"
That's a very interesting observation and one that we can spend many hours discussing. For the sake of brevity, I'll encourage you to watch the video below and let me know your thoughts!
3.There's going to be a W.A.G.S: Atlanta!
We are in uncharted territory! I'm about to talk about something that is extremely "Entertainment Blog-ish". OK, you've been warned! Next year, there's going to be WAGS in ATL and I'm low-key looking forward to it. Why am I so excited about this? Because I binge-watched the LA & Miami seasons On Demand while I was taking my braids down this summer and now I'm hooked!

Gosh, I felt like I was spewing a little poison just by talking about a reality show on here! I wonder if I can earn back some credibility with y'all by not mentioning the show specs, i.e. channel and airtime?
Oh well, let's get back to #JosieLand...
4. Song of the Week: Lemon – N.E.R.D & Rihanna
The internet is saying that they think Rihanna is rapping on here?? It sounds more like Pharrell is rapping using RiRi's voice though! But who's checking. Check the song out on Apple Music here.
4a. Josie Rock's REAL Song of the Week: No Comparison - A Boogie wit da Hoodie
IMO, this track is the better one of the two but I want to hear from you! Which song is your fav this week?
Listen to No Comparison on Apple Music here.
5. I'll be interviewing Sassy Beats on OneUp Chronicles this Tuesday!
On OneUp Chronicles, I'll be interviewing Jess Hilarious Makeup artist, Sassy Beats! She'll be sharing some insight into how she's managed to stay in the industry this long and much more.
Be sure to tune in!
The show will air LIVE this Tues from 5-7P EST and Sassy's interview will be at 6P. To listen, you need to have the Highly Unique Radio App or the tunein App. Both are available in the GooglePlay Store or the iTunes Store!
